Kidou Senkan Nadesico
Kidou Senkan Nadesico (Martian Successor Nadesico) is a mecha and science fiction parody series released by Xebec in 1996, that spoofs many classic tropes found in it's respective genres. While the core of the show focuses on the real-robot subgenre, several of the characters are fans of the television program Gekiganger 3, a fictitious super-robot mecha series. This, and the 1998 spin-off OVA of the same name, facilitate commentary on the more exaggerated aspects of the mecha genre. While 1998's sequel film, Kidou Senkan Nadesico: The Prince of Darkness (Martian Successor Nadesico: Prince of Darkness), took a far more serious tone. A manga adaptation was published by Kadokawa Shoten from 1996 to 1999, that featured a reimagined plot, aimed at a more adult audience. (Source: Kaize)
