Showcasing delicious sweets and a colorful atmosphere, Café Grief Seed welcomes a variety of patrons through its doors. On a whim, Madoka Kaname and her friend Sayaka Miki visit the restaurant after seeing it being featured in a magazine. They quickly befriend the three employees of the establishment and eventually become interested in working at the café. Seizing the opportunity, the apathetic store manager Kyuubey extends a job offer to Madoka and Sayaka, believing that their hiring will improve workplace efficiency. However, when waitress Homura Akemi eavesdrops on the cat-like creature, she learns that Kyuubey has ulterior motives behind the contract.
