A run-down Chinese restaurant is a place where Kaede Satou finds solace. As a regular at the establishment, she enjoys the calming sensation of eating potstickers and drinking beer in its cramped quarters. The shop is run by a woman whose old ramen shop burned down in a fire and her mysterious husband who cooks behind a wooden barricade. After another sluggish day at her pachinko parlor job, Kaede returns to the restaurant, only to learn that the owners have decided to close up shop at the end of the year. But before the business is gone for good, the woman promises to serve Kaede a bowl of their famous tantanmen—a dish that used to be served at their old shop—as well as let her meet the cook who has been making her potstickers all this time.
